Who we are

We are a non profit Voluntary group set up in 2021 with 3 primary goals:

1) The appropriate conservation of the historic Orlagh Demesne, St Colmcilles Well and McCarthys Castle on Montpelier Hill.

2) An avenue for the many retired people in the Rathfarnham area, and others looking a gainful pursuit to be able to visit and park safely and spend time at the private estate, meet like minded others and offer their spare time in whatever way suits them, whether that be hosting visiting groups with special needs, tending allotments, feeding chickens or donkeys, picking apples and gardening, lots of gardening !

3) Long term aim of facilitating a not for profit community centre in the immediate area to provide a day care drop in centre for various charities and disadvantaged groups.

About us

We are a group of locals whom care passionately about Rathfarnham, it’s history and specifically Montpelier Hill and the Orlagh Estate that’s sits on it.  We are combined by a sense of community and a love for our local area.  We get together frequently at our clubhouse at Orlagh and in our own way make a contribution to caring for the environment, wildlife and the historic grounds at Orlagh.

Contact us

Get involved and come as much or as little as you like. FOMH offers endless biscuits and tea and a real sense of achieving something very special, curating an historic estate that wants to welcome locals experience it.

We meet every Monday and Tuesdays. There is ample parking and nobody turned away.
